Thank you for a wonderful event :)

Thank you all for attending the event and enjoying it. The attendance was great, and beyond our planned numbers. Please watch this space for photos and writeups on the event. IIT Kanpur Alumni celebrates Golden Jubilee at Hyderabad on 17th Dec.
IIT Kanpur Alumni Association Hyderabad-Secunderabad Chapter, which has been in existence for last 25 years, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of the institute in a grand way on 17th of Dec, 2010. This event was the last in the series of celebrations worldwide at different cities like Bangalore, Washington, DC, and Santa Clara. More than 250 Alumni and family members were seen proudly networking, re-living those nostalgic memories, and celebrating the 50th anniversary of their Alma Mater at the Infotech Campus, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

The theme of the Hyderabad convention was 'IITians should be job creators and not job seekers'.

Professor S.G. Dhande, Director IIT Kanpur, Dr. Uday Desai, Director, IIT Hyderabad, Dr. Sudhir Jain, Director, IIT Gandhinagar, Prof Bijendra N Jain, Vice Chancellor, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, Dr. Krishna Tanuku (Executive Director - Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at ISB) have all participated in the lively and intense Panel discussion on the theme 'What should IITs do to create more Entrepreneurs'. which was moderated by one of the Alumna, Ms. Madhu Chadda. The ideas, good practices and recommendations presented and discussed will be shared with the Directors of all IITs so as to benefit all the young and established IITs.

The day's theme “Entrepreneurship” was introduced by Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy (Founder and Chairman, Infotech Enterprises, and an Alumnus of IIT Kanpur). This was followed by a Panel Discussion by IITians on "Entrepreneurs' Journey" which saw some great advice on Do's and Don'ts of entrepreneurship, and encouragement to youngsters. The participants on the Panel were all distinguished achievers and entrepreneurs like BVR Mohan Reddy (Founder and Chairman, InfoTech Enterprises), Jay R. Pullur (Founder and CEO, Pramati Technologies), Anu Acharya (Founder and CEO, Ocimum Biosolutions), Ashok Das (CEO, Sunmoksha) and the discussion was Moderated by Abhaya Shankar (MD, Hyderabad Industries Ltd)

The chief guests and stars of the event were about a dozen of the retired faculty of IIT Kanpur who reside currently in Hyderabad. Prof P Dayaratnam (CE), Prof K V G K Gokhale (CE), Prof P N Murty (AE), Prof C V R Murti (AE), Prof D Balasubramanian (CHM), Prof D P Rao (CHE), Prof S R Doradla (EE), Prof P R K Rao (EE), Prof Usha Kumar (HSS) and Prof Padmanabhan were felicitated and thanked for their service to the institute and for being a source of inspiration to so many of thier students who are successful entrepreneurs and professionals around the world.

The Hyderabad Chapter congratulated Mr B V R Mohan Reddy (MT/ME/74) Founder, Infotech Enterprises on being selected for Distinguished Alumnus Awardee of the year 2010-2011 for his outstanding entrepreneurial and managerial skills.

The evening concluded with the guests enjoying the sumptuous dinner and beautiful ambience on the lawns at the Infotech campus.
